How to Succeed With This Course
Financial Foundations is built to help you
- improve your money management using a proven system
- stop fighting about money with your partner
- make up for lost time and get on track financially
- and navigate some of the trickier nuances of personal finance (big picture financial planning, IRAs, term life insurance, to name just a few)
It is NOT designed to be the magic bullet that will fix all of your financial problems. The only person who can do that is YOU!
If you're expecting a course to passively fix your finances, Financial Foundations won't help you.
It will show you what to do, but you have to do the work yourself.
In order to be successful in this course, you'll want to be sure to do the following:
1. Work your way through each lecture and section in their entirety. It's easy to click "Complete Lesson" and move on, especially when asked to answer difficult questions about the way you manage money.
Remember, your old ways of managing money are what motivated you to invest in yourself and begin this course! Don't be tempted to take short-cuts and hope that it will all work out. Old habits die hard, and we need to break them.
2. Print out all copies of the forms, worksheets, and other documents (all available as PDF files) contained throughout the course. You'll have a much easier time completing assignments this way. Note: If you do not have access to a printer, you can always re-create the forms yourself using a legal pad.
3. Create a free account now with EveryDollar and download the mobile app, as we'll be using this platform later on to build, monitor, and implement your monthly budget. This only takes a few minutes, but it's nice to get it out of the way early.
4. If you ever encounter specific problems or questions at any time during the course, don't hesitate to contact us via e-mail ([email protected]).
